What Is The Solution For Spots On Legs In A 11 Yr Old Child Caused By Scratching And Scabbing?

11 year old boy who has small red spots on skin. Says they itch all the time and he scratches them until they bleed. They scab up and scar his skin. Only on his arms and legs. He has seasonal allergies takes a Zyrtec in the morning and a benadryl before bed. He also takes a dose of vitamin D. Wha do I do yo help heal the spots and prevent them?

Hi,

It may be lichen urticatus most probably. I recommend to give him antihistaminic like hydroxyzine HCL 10 mg tablet daily till the itching is relieved. Apply mild steroid cream combined with antibiotics. Keep him away from insects,as the lesions maybe due to hypersensitivity reactions to insects.
