What Is The Spot On The X-ray?

Thank you. My father had a x-ray with a spot. The spot was not there in a previous x-ray taken in 2008. He also had a scan which showed there is a suspect nodule of about 12 mm in diameter. his tumour markers are negative. he has been coughing for the last 3-4 months> Coyld his be sign of ?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

It is difficult to comment in detail as you have not mentioned the region of X ray and I guess you are talking about the chest as you relate it to a cough. I would suggest to wait for a course of antibiotics to be completed and then follow up with another X ray. If the nodule still persists then a CT scan of chest is suggested. A 12 mm nodule is unlikely to cause cough for 3 to 4 months. However the exact nature will be known only after Ct scan.
