What Is The Squishy Bump On The Knee Cap After An Injury When On Blood Thinning Medication?
Hi my dad fell outside on the ice and immediately he got a quarter sized moveable squishy bump on his knee cab. He said he s fine, but I worry about him and I just want to make sure he ll be okay. He is on blood thinning medication so he thinks it s a blood blister but there is no red visible on the skin
Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Possibly your dad is right. He knows that he is on blood thinning agents, which could lead to hematoma formation (blood cyst) even on a trivial trauma. Usually small hematomas get absorbed by themselves. Because your dad is on blood thinning medications, it might increase or might not get absorbed. In that case, you might have to consult his treating doctor to consider withdrawal of the blood thinning agent for some time till this gets ok.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts. Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
