What Is The Success Rate Of Undergoing Throat Reconstruction?

What is the success rate of undergoing throat reconstruction? I have had 4 operations on my throat to remove the condition amyloidosis, which has damaged my throat considerably. What is the criteria for eligibility for throat reconstruction ? My problems are achieving normal volume, excessive moisture, throat stress, and having to rest my vocal cords from talking during the day. Also throat irritation, and excessive coughing. Could I be a candidate for throat reconstruction?

Hi,

The success rate of throat reconstruction depends on various factors, including the extent of the damage, the underlying cause of the damage, and the overall health of the patient. It is important to discuss your specific case with your doctor and a specialized throat surgeon to determine the potential success rate and risks involved in the procedure.

The eligibility criteria for throat reconstruction will also depend on the individual case and the severity of the damage. Some factors that may be considered include the patient's overall health, age, and the presence of any underlying medical conditions that may affect the surgery's success.

Throat reconstruction may be an option for patients with significant damage to the throat or vocal cords, which can result in difficulty speaking, swallowing, or breathing. The goal of the surgery is to restore the function of the throat and vocal cords as much as possible.

However, it is important to note that throat reconstruction is a complex surgery that carries risks, including bleeding, infection, and failure of the reconstruction. Your doctor can help determine if this surgery is a viable option for you based on your specific condition and medical history.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
