What Is The Suggestion For Increased Heart Beats And T Abnormalities In ECG?

Hi I am a 38 year old woman who has experienced episodes, lasting around ten minutes, for 15 years, of a Sudden, racing heart (250 beats per minute) which leaves me weak and with indigestion and shoulder pain. I'm so scared. I had an ECG which showed T abnormalities. Can you help?

Dear Mrs,

T abnormalities can be repolarization abnormalities which is not serious. But you describe arrhythmias. And there is a need for investigations to find out the cause. Only then the proper treatment can be prescribed.
You shouldn't worry, if you have them for 15 years, it is not emergency.
I would advise you to undergo holter monitoring. It is an examination duing which 24 hour ECG is recorded. In case you don't have any episode of arrhythmia during the period of holter examination, then there are other types of tests for longer periods. One of them is event recorder. It is an equipment, that you carry with you. And when you feel palpitations you put it on your chest, it records the arrhythmia. The other choice is loop recorder, which is placed under your skin, and can be left for months, until there is a arrhythmia, so your doctor can find out the exact type of arrhythmia, and suggest appropriate treatment.

Hope I could help you

Wishing you good health
