What Is The Treatment For A Bruise On The Upper Back?

I had an upper GI and a colonoscopy on Wed last week. I just noticed weird bruises (?) across my upper back. They are about two inches tall and two sections about 5 inches wide each and appear to be made up of small circular bruises. What on earth would cause this?

I can understand your concern for bruises all over body.

Regarding the problem of bruises which we call medially as "purpuric or ecchymotic spots" is common condition seen due to extravasation and collection of red blood cells from the vessels under the skin. It can be due to to trauma to the small blood vessels of the skin or any abnormality in coagulation.

I suggest my patients to go for tests of platelet function and coagulation factors done routinely in all the simple laboratories to rule out the exact cause of the problem. If the tests are under normal then there is nothing to be worried about. It the tests are abnormal then can meet a physician or report to your colonoscopy doctor.
