Hi, Thyroid cysts represent an enlarged regions of the thyroid that contains fluid. It may be small (<1 cm) or quite large and sometimes arise very suddenly.Generaly it have no symptoms , but if it is not small or it is complicated with infection there are swallowing difficulties and pain at the anterior part of the neck or sore throat. An ultrasonografy of thyroid gland can give a lot of information about the cist and another examination called fine nidlle aspiration biopsy FNAB done under ultrasonography can hellp to resolve the problem, with the aspiration of the cist fluid. If there is any signs of infection(lokal pein and lokal temperature)your doctor will prescribe you antibiotics. So dont worry,a thyroid cyst hide never a bad disease.
