The lower part of my right leg got pressed and pinched up against a metal bar two days ago for a few minutes. About an hour and a half later, I had a large baseball sized lump (swelling) on the inside of that leg. It didn't hurt, unless I tried to walk on it or go down stairs, and then it was just uncomforatable. I iced and elevated it immediately after noticing the swelling and have been staying off of it as much as possible. It's now black, blue, and yellow and most of the swelling has gone down. I still have a lump on the side of my leg and my husband thinks I torn a muscle. It doesn't hurt to walk or stand on it, but now my ankle is swollen too and black and blue under the ankle bone. How do I know if it's a torn muscle?
it is best if you are clinically evaluated by a doctor, preferably by a general or an orthopedic surgeon. yes, it is possible that it is an inflammatory reaction from a muscle strain, but still, clinical evaluation is best to rule out other possibilities. further diagnostics such as x-ray will be directed accordingly. it might also be infected, hence, the persistence of swelling. anti-tetanus prophylaxis and proper antibiotic treatment is needed.
hope this helps.
good day!!
