open wound I had breast surgery and when the stitches were taken out of the middle of my chest a few days later the incisions opened and now its been 1 week since and I ve been cleaning it and packing it with gauze and silvidine. I change the dressings 2x a day. my question is, what should I be expecting. the wound seems to be getting shallow but there is more while looking stuff. is that the new tissue? it does not smell and because if the medication the white stuff turns green and some spots its darker. can t my surgeon cut all the white stuff and stitch it up or is it better to leave it open.. I have to go back to work in 5 weeks and I m concerned it won t be healed in time..
Tenderness usually goes away in a few days, and the bruising within 2 weeks. Firmness and swelling may take 3 to 6 months to go away. The stitches in your incision may dissolve on their own. You should take care of the wound to prevent an infection. I suggest to clean the wound and cover it with a clean bandage.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
