What Is The Treatment For Bone Infection?

My daughter was diagnosed with a bone infection in her second digit toe right foot this past March. She was on antibiotics for five months and it seemed to go back to normal. Now the toe seems swollen and red again. Is it possible the bone infection is back or can it be something else?
