Hi, I'm a non-smoker, had a cold which hasn't quite gone yet, but have a cough which is quite thorough, not really producing much mucus, but feels like I'm constantly breathing through smoke. Hypothyroxic, max dose of levothyroxine 125mg, 45yrs female
Thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation and problem. By your description, I think you are having exposure to passive smoke. Your symptoms are more suggestive of bronchitis. And passive smoke can cause bronchitis. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done 1. Clinical examination of respiratory system 2. Chest x ray 3. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection. PFT is needed to rule out bronchitis. It will also tell you about severity of the disease. And treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only. You may need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamines. So better to first diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
