I am a 26 year old woman with one diagnosis of a DVT on December 1. I was on birthcontrol and was in a big boot due to a torn tendon. I was in the hospital for 3 days and was allowed out once I was able to use Lovenox. I was on (I think) 7 mg for a week. Since then I have been going between 4 mg and 5 mg of warfarin. As of right now, I am on 4 mg, 5mg, 5 mg, repeat. I was wondering how long I may need to continue this. I am no longer on bc and my tendon has healed completely. The warfarin does not seem to be regulating my blood I am basically always at 1.7 or above 3.
If the anti coagulants are not working to their desired effect., then other alternative is surgery, open or endo thrombectomy through dormia basket.Your doctor can advise you better.
DVT is to be treated by anti coagulants like enoxaparin, warfarin.INR has to be monitored daily. For it's effectiveness I N R has to be one and a half to two times from its normal. It may take 6-12 weeks for recanalization of veins.
