What Is The Treatment For Diabetes?

I am 51years and diabetic since 11 years. First the doctor prescribed GLIZID 40mg and after four years the drug was changed to XMAT 500mg and two years later increased to XMAT 850mg. Last three years back when I got tested my suger level at fasting was 175. So, the drug was changed and gave GLIZID 80mg. 15days back when again tested my suger level was fasting 277 and PP 297. So, the doctor prescribed ZORYL-M 1. and advised to take one tablet a day. But it seems the sugar level is slightly more when I tested with urine strips. Whether I have to take two tablets a day. Please advice.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query.I have gone through your query. In diabetic therapy it is recommended to begin with metformin but you begin with sulfonylurea glizid. So your second doctor changed it to metformin xmat and added sulfonylurea again when it is not getting controlled by xmat alone. Now you are getting Zoryl m1 which is also combination of metformin and sulfonylurea glimepride. Since your sugar level is not adequately controlled by oral hypoglycemics you should be started on insulin therapy. If your renal profile is ok then metformin can be taken with insulin therapy. With regular follow up with your physician and testing sugar at required intervals keep your diabetes well controlled.Hope this may help you.
Let me know if you have any further query.
