What Is The Treatment For Dull Headache?

I was in a car accident and hit my head pretty hard. Have had no signs of Concussion or anything only a headache for a day... It s been over a month and I have now had a dull headache that feels somewhat related for the last 24 hours or so. I have not taken anything for it but have had a nights sleep and it s still a dull ache, please advise. Thank you

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello dear,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have made the following clinical explanation-
Apparently you had a mild head injury in that car accident as it was not associated with clouding of consciousness. It is common to have dull headache for months after blunt head injuries even without severe intracranial damage, for the pathogenesis unknown. This entity is 'post traumatic headache' and responds well to 'amitriptyline'.Please discuss with your physician so that he can put you on low dose of amitriptyline and observe for the response.I hope it will improve. If no improvement, you can plan to get a computerised tomographic (CT) scan of head done to see for any structural cause of headache,if any.I hope it helps.
