I am 53 years old and have been smoking for the past 35 years. Now I felt pain at the back portion of my left chest. The dull pain radiates towards my left arm. What medicines should I take to treat my ailment.
thanks for your question i completely understand your problem as per my opinion you have COPD and symptoms of cough and breathlessness and the chest xray changes also support the diagnosis and cause for this disease is your smoking habit. first thing which needs to be done is quit smoking. you need to consult a pulmonologist regarding the treatment of copd , inhaled drugs like inhaled long acting corticosterois and inhaled long acting bronchodilators like fluticasone and formoterol needs to be started . this is standard treatment for copd. next is about that chest pain, pain at the back of chest radiating to arms or shoulders can be due to ishchaemia, angina ,by thus i mean to say this can be due to a cardiac disease. consult a cardiologist and a pulmonologist regarding tghe above mentioned conditions and medicines so that cause can be evaluated and medicines can be started. thanks /regards feel free to ask more questions may god bless you with good health
