I seem to have had persistent, yet not painful, ear infections for the last few months (both ears). My right ear was bunged with wax but that has been syringed, yet I am still suffering with fizzing ears/head. Even my right eye, whilst okay in the sight department, seems sticky (I can feel the structures around the eye sluggish). My GP has referred me to ENT - I have an appointment on 21.01.14 - but in the meantime, do you think there is anything to worry about? The fizzing seems to be worse first thing in the morning and later on in the evening. I am just 66 years old. Your help would be appreciated.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have ear infection which seems to be due to fungal infection, wax build up, fluid accumulation, Eustachian tube dysfunction and systemic disease infection. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles , take steam twice a day and apply warm dry compresses to external ear . You should keep your ear dry until it gets alright , which is very important and cover your ear while bathing .Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for a week along with decongestants. Put Otogesic ear drops. You should go for audiometer testing as well to check hearing level. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may examine by otoscopic means to check level of infection.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
