What Is The Treatment For Enlarged Colon?

Is there a cure for an enlarged or mega colon? I have had this since I was a child, and I still have some trouble... If I don t pay attention, I get compacted stools, and I hardly get the urge naturally at all. Also, I often have pain in my lower pelvic region, and I have already had my female parts checked out, and all seems well there... I was thinking it could be my lower colon. The pain is either on one side or the other. Thank you for any help you can give to me :)

Hi,

As it is by birth defect and with minor symptoms you need not worry. There is a problem in the nervous system in the colon region by birth. If the symptoms are severe it can be addressed with treatment mainly surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sri Prabha, Oncologist
