What Is The Treatment For Enlarged Uterus And Multiple Fibroids?
I am a 2x breast cancer survivor (first time estrogen positive and second time a very large, fast growing triple negative), I also have a BRCA1 mutation tho considered favor polymorphism. Recent pelvic u/s revealed enlarged uterus and multiple fibroids with the largest 3.5 cm. In 2010 this was only 1.4 cm. I am 10 years post menopausal. Should I be concerned by the growing fibroids? Given my complicated medical history??? My sister also had B/C last year. We both had mastectomies. Same BCRA1 mutation.
Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. I have gone through your query and would like to offer my opinion. In the current scenario, you need to focus on the enlarging fibroid. Usually, fibromyomas which have been existing before menopause shrink in size once menopause is attained. As you are ten years into menopause and still have an enlarging fibroid, which is significant, I would suggest further evaluation considering your medical history. A hormone assay, an endometrial biopsy, pap smear/colposcopy are likely to be useful. Hope this helps.
