What Is The Treatment For Flashes Of Light And Floaters?

I am experiencing flashes of light around the outer perimeter of my left eye whenever I blink. It's as if I observe a flash of lightening on the distant horizon. I also am experiencing large dark floaters that look like midges--these are not the typical small black dot floaters...they are like midge sized or nymph larvae sized.
About 2 month ago I twice experienced a sharp stinging sensation in my left eye. Last night it happened for the 3rd time.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that you are having symptoms of flashes of light with floaters.
These symptoms are usually seen in diseases of the posterior part of the eye like retina and vitreous.
Hence this requires evaluation by a ophthalmologist by indirect ophthalmoscopy to look for the causes like retinal tear, vitreous detachment and treatment of these conditions if present is necessary to prevent complications like retinal detachment.
Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for examination and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
