What Is The Treatment For Hypothyroidism?

i am detected with hypothyroid. Doctor has advised me to take 1 and a half tablet every morning empty stomach, half an hour before tea or coffee. Each tablet is 25mcg. I am 7 weeks pregnant now, will this tablet or thyroid affect my unborn? What are the key things i need to keep in mind?

Thanks for using healthcaremagic.I understand your concern.
Brief answer: Hormone replacement therapy with thyroxine.
Detailed answer:No.The drug doesn't harm your pregnancy or you, rather protects from complications like preterm delivery, growth restriction(Prematurity),poor neuronal development in the unborn which may occur due to hypothyroidism. In my opinion, you need to follow up with your treating doctor with thyroid function test reports as advised, and drug dose alteration might be needed to bring back normal thyroid function state during the course.Hope this information helps you.If any further questions ,wish to answer you.Take care.
