What Is The Treatment For Itching In The Vagina?

I went to the beach a few days ago and stayed in my wet bikini for a few hours afterwards. 2-3 days ago I noticed an irritating itch all over the outside of my vagina. Of course I scratched at it at first, but then I stopped after it began to burn. I ve checked things out in a mirror and I m extremely red down there and a little swollen. I have red patches and I m not sure if they re from scratching or rubbing or if it s something else. I have smooth white discharge which is normal around this time, given my period is due next week. What could be going on with me?
