What Is The Treatment For Multiple Myeloma With Amyloidosis?
My husband is 66 yrs. old. He has multiple myeloma with amyloidosis. He is being treated with an oral form of chemo, Revlimid. He has been on aprin therapy for possible blood clots as a result of the Revlimid. He has Addison's disease, and has now developed atrial fribrillation. Is there anything positive here? The doctors suspect the amyloids are in the heart muscle as well.
myeloma can lead to amyloid deposits in organs. Treatment for amyloid due to myeloma is same as for myeloma. If myeloma is cured, amyloidosis is cured. But till the time it is cured, patient needs symptomatic management. Since he has atrial fibrillation it needs to be managed with medication along with continuation of therapy for myeloma
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Treatment of multiple myeloma is chemotherapy like revlimid. If he does not get benefit from that then bone marrowtransplantation can be helpful depending on the stage of disease. Consult your doctor and plan accordingly.
