What Is The Treatment For Nostril Mildew Scent?

I have noticed, in only one nostril, a slight mildew scent. I only detect it if I pull slightly on the upper edge of my nostril as if to scratch it. This has been an ongoing, but intermittent problem I ve noticed for several years. At first, I thought it was perhaps something under my fingernails which I keep trimmed and clean. But using the same hand, I do not smell the odor in the other nostril. My wife got close and said she could also detect a slight mildew scent only on the one side. She suggested swabbing the inside of my nostrils with coconut butter on a Q-Tip. This does seem to help with the odor, but I don t want to mask any serious problem. I suppose I could see my doctor, but I saw your website and thought I d check here first. I have good personal/oral hygiene and am in overall good health. Thank you!

Hello,

It is parosmia seen in common cold or allergic rhinitis or sinusitis. It may be secondary to B12 deficiency or Parkinson's disease or head injury etc. Please consult with your ENT specialist he will examine through proctoscopy and treat you accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
