What Is The Treatment For Numbness Below Knee?

I have some numbness below my knee - not extending to my foot - just between my knee and foot - I recently started a walking program and got up to 2 miles twice a day - the numbness started after about 3 months - feels like that foot is coming down hard when I walk now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to:
1. Nerve compression or poor neuro-muscular coordination.
2. Peripheral neuropathy.
3. Any fluctuation in blood pressure or blood sugar levels.
4. Inadequate hydration & nutrition status.
5. Deficiency of certain nutrients like Iron, Vitamin B 12, Calcium, Magnesium, etc.
Investigations like complete blood count, estimation of blood pressure and blood sugar levels, Thyroid profile & nerve conduction studies will be helpful in clinching the diagnosis.

Symptomatic relief can be obtained with nervigenic agents (like Vit B6, B12, Folic acid) as well as multivitamin & mineral supplementation needs to be added in the diet.
Physiotherapy exercise will also be helpful.

If symptoms still persist, kindly consult a Neurologist for proper clinical examination.
Meanwhile, maintain adequate hydration, take a healthy balanced diet & avoid stress.

Wishing a good health.
Take care.
