What Is The Treatment For Numbness In The Head And Headache?
Hi, I ve been recently getting like a numbness feeling at the back and sides of my head, hard to describe but almost like a cold shiver feeling. It s not painful but is a really weird sensation. I ve been to the doctors and they said it could be related to the contraceptive pill I ve been taking as this has caused my blood pressure to increase ever so slightly (it s currently border line). I am however still worried and feel as though my headaches might be something more than that. Can you help?
Thank you for your question on HCM! I appreciate your concern.
Your headaches seem to be a tension type headache. I wouldn't exclude the role of raised blood pressure in this type of headache. A cervical spondylarthrosis can also cause similar symptoms.
I don't think that this feeling is related to an intracranial disorder like tumor as far as you do not refer other symptoms like gait imbalance etc.
I would recommend you to consult with your GP, have a physical examination for neurological sign. A routine blood test and coagulation tests may be helpful to exclude a chronic anemia or coagulation disorders related to the oral contraceptives. A cervical column x-ray may be necessary to exclude cervical spondylarthrosis.
Hope to have been of help!
Greetings! Dr. Aida
