I had an accident in work this morning causing a 1.5 full litre plastic bottle of to come crashing to the side of my head nearly knocking me out. It hit me square on the ear and my ear has been painful all day. The pain on the side is gradually getting worse and my ear is extremely painful though no swelling. The side of my head that got hit is getting incredibly stiff to move. Is this normal after a freak accident like described?
Do you have any tinnitus or bleeding from the ear? Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. It may be a membrane perforation or injury to the pinna outside. Use cold compression, use NSAIDS to decrease the pain. If you are feeling any giddiness or ear discharge, you have to consult with your ENT specialist, he will do an endoscopy of the ear and treat you accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
