What Is The Treatment For Painful Gum With Pus After A Tooth Extraction?

I had my tooth out on Monday as it was badly infected. I had used some clove oil gel to numb the pain of the infection which stripped the top layers od my gum away. Since having the tooth out, it is still really painful and a pocket of pus has developed over the top of the gum (not the hole where the tooth was). I have also developed a cough (I am a smoker but did not have the cough prior to having the tooth out).

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

There could be a chance of broken root piece left in the socket.
Get an x-ray done by the concerned Dentist.
Get complete curettage of the socket pus drained and irrigation with normal saline.
Take a course of antibiotics and analgesics.
Take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses at home.

Take care!
