What Is The Treatment For Pinkish Color Inside Belly Button Which Is Itching And Has Pus Discharge?

Hi my friends belly buttton is a pinkish color on the inside, itches around the outside and has some white/clear pus discharge. She does not have a belly ring nor ever has.. is there any suggestions to what it could be and how to treat it? Thank you!

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM.

Seems to be case of 'Allergic contact dermatitis' as a result of direct contact of the inner surface of the hook of jeans/trousers with your belly. It is very common and is due to the nickel content of the hook (Nickel Dermatitis)

Judging from your query it seems that it has got secondarily infected too due to scratching.

I would ask you to avoid the hook (of jeans/trousers) to come in direct contact with your belly.

If i were your treating doctor i would have asked you to take a week of oral antibiotics to treat the secondary infection.

An oral antihistamine like cetrizine would help you with the itch part.

Topical cream containing a combination of Moderately potent steroid (e.g Mometasone) along with an antibiotic (e.g Fusidic acid) would help to resolve the dermatitis..
