I m a 50 year old female and had retinal detachment surgery with the sceral buckle and gas bubble four months ago. Retina doctor said it has healed up well and referred me back to the opthamologist. I saw him three weeks ago. He did a vision exam and said I have a cataract now but said contacts or glasses would correct my vision to 20/30. He referred me back to the optometrist for my prescription. I saw the optometrist last week, and he said the cataract has progressed rather quickly and he could not even correct it to 20/50 so he recommended I see the opthomologist or retina dr to get cataract surgery. Is four months too soon after the retina detachment surgery to do cataract surgery? I m concerned with some articles I have read where the retina has re-detached after cataract surgery.
for cataract surgery is the ony answer. what about other eye vision, if it is good then you can take some time. for surgery you have to consult retina surgeon since there is retinal detachment and care have to be taken for cataract surgery.
