What Is The Treatment For Salty Taste In Mouth?

Dear Doc. Pls help me with this irritating salty taste from my mouth that makes me spit everytime. I'm diabetic with type 2 and preveously got 2nd hand smoke for 1 yr in the office when he left the office i start having this salty taste coming from my jaw thanks for helping me.

Thanks for the query..

Salty taste in mouth with a medical history of diabetes and getting exposed to smoke points towards infection in salivary glands leading to pus formation and discharge in mouth causing salty taste..

Other common causes are long standing dehydration, upper respiratory tract infection,cold and post nasal drip.
An autoimmune disease known as Sjogrens syndrome is also seen to cause salty taste in mouth..

Nothing to worry, consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and after a thorough clinical examination and investigations [if required], treatment can be planned..
As of now drink plenty of water and chew sugar free chewing gums.
