What Is The Treatment For Swollen And Painful Neck?

Hi, my name is kristen. I'm 16 and I do go to a pu lic school where I do share things with my friends. I recently realized a place in the upper right corner of my neck somewhat under my jaw. Its swolen with immence pain. I wasn't to be sure that I absolutly need to see a doctor before I go. What could this mean?
