Hi,

Cone rod dystrophy or degeneration is primarily the disease of light stimulating layer of retina. Usually it is transmitted thru genetic inheritance. It affects the color vision in the beginning, then central vision and may be followed by loss of peripheral vision. It may be stationary or progressing in its symptoms. Unfortunately, the condition has no cure at present. However, stem cell treatment or gene modifications are some of the optimistic hopes for the future.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
