What Is The Treatment For The Thyroid And Symptoms Of Hashimotos's Disease?

I recently had blood work and its showing my thyroid is not functioning as well as it should be. my TSH, high sensitivity level is 4.19, T4 free is 1.1 and microsomal TPO-Ab is 62 H. I do have quite a few symptoms of Hashimoto's disease. My doctor has been in this field for 30 years and I believe he goes by the old TSH scoring of .5-5.0. With my results does it appear there is a problem going on with my thyroid and do you feel the levels are high enough that I should seek a second opinion or is this something that needs to get worse before you can get medication to start feeling better.

Hello,
Good day. First of all, what specefic symptoms promped you to do a thyroid test. Your thyroid test readings are not alarming. I feel that you must get a repeat TSH and FT4 ( Free T4) next time in the morning. Wait a week or two before you repeat the test. I personally do not feel that at this stage, you need to opt for a second opinion. Your old doctor is just doing things right ( as per your decription).

Binu
