What Is The Treatment For Tibial Plateau Fractures?

I have a 'minimal displacement of the tibial plateau' and have, for 3 weeks been wearing a hinged cast set at 30 degrees. Can you tell me how long this is likely to be in place and when I may be weight bearing again? The doctor said I would be 'partial' weight bearing first - what does this entail, and how long would it be before I could drive again? It is my right leg and I am 58 and in fairly good health except for arthritis in my hips which was diagnosed 30 years ago but except for aches and pains it doesn't really stop me doing anything.
