Endocrinologist 's  Response
Good day,
Noted your concern.
HAshimotos's thyroidits can cause the thyroid to grow and if assocated with uncontrolled hypothyroidism, it can cause slowing of heart rate. However, it ca cause MI indirectly by increasing abnormal cholesterol. Another way of Hashimotos affecting the heart is by enlarging the heart muscles. Only by analyzing the EKG and also doing an echo of heart, further evaluation is possible. To annswer your question, Yes, Hashimotos can cause your EKG changes, but it is rare.
