What Is The Use Of HCG Injection?

My doctor is doing follicular study and I had letoval tablet from 1st day of my period till 4th day (10 tablets).In 9th day Doctor gave me an injection HCG2 (Fertigyn) and asked me to eat Miprogen tablet from my 15th day. May i know the use of HCG injection and will it be helpful in getting pregnant?
