What Is Vaginal Synechiae?

Can you provide a clear definition of vaginal synechiae? My pap yesterday revealed I have this condition. It was very painful to have the speculem inside me during the examination. Normally I am able to relax and let the exam continue. But I was white knuckles and tears in my eyes the whole time. Can you please help me understand? Laura
