What Kind Of Symptoms Indicates Jaundice In An Asthma Patient?

Is there any correlation between looking jaundice and hepatitis C? I had a colonoscopy this morning, and two nurses said that my face and hands looked jaundice! Of course, I had been prepping all the night before. Also, I had just completed 2 weeks of clarithromycin 500mg twice a day for bronchitis, upper respiratory issues with my asthma. Also, my dermatologist told me that I looked jaundice about a year ago. She did lab work that showed there was no issue. Any ideas to offer me?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If your bilirubin levels are with in normal limits, you are no longer jaundiced and nothing to worry. The skin texture of some people has yellowish hue and it is not jaundice. Excessibe intake of carotene can also imparts yellowish hue to skin and it is not a matter of concern. Asthma and drugs you are taking for asthma has got no relation between jaundice and yellowish skin. Looking jaundice doesn’t mean hepatitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
