What Leads To Chest Pain After Eating Food With Excess Fats And Oil?

Yesterday i ate a food high in fats and oils, and went to bed right after. when i woke up this morning my chest (heart) area has hurting, and when i drank water there seemed to be a blockage in my esophagus. Is there anything that can stop the pain, is that fat from the food causing a blockage, will i be okay??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are suffering from chest pain after eating fatty, oily food. Your symptoms are indicative of gastritis, IBS, gastroenteritis or food allergy, liver dysfunction, etc. Eating oily, fatty food triggers formation of gas and interferes with the digestion of food. For relief, you can take Antacids or PPIs, one SOS when needed. You can take Spasmol (spasmoproxyvon), one SOS when needed. Take food that is well cooked, avoid trans fat, full fat dairy products, red meat, packaged food, avoid food that causes gas, allergy and discomfort.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get all liver function tests, urinalysis, blood works and imaging tests done to detect liver problem and any developing ulcer. You will be treated accordingly. Stay away from addictions if any. Take adequate amount of water, fluids, and soups.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
