What Makes The Toe Turn Blue And Numb?

Third and fourth toe seem to be getting numb more often. Used to happen only when biking or when my feet got cold. They can also turn that deadly white that you see on frostbitten feet. I sit often with my legs crossed but recently noticed that my toes turn blue...so I remedied that myself...I sit normally. Whole thing bothers me though.
