What Medical Condition Causes Rashes On The Chest And Abdomen?
My doctor said I have a rare disease and he gave me the name of it, but I have forgotten. All I have is a rash on my chest and abdomen, mostly my abdomen. It doesn t itch or hurt in any way, and he said it is nothing serious, that it will go away on its own in about a month. My aunt had this same condition when she was my age (mid 20s) It s not that important, but can you tell me the name of it?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You have rash on abdomen and chest which is not itchy or painful. And your aunt had same rash. This may be tinea versicolor. It is a superficial fungal infection of the skin caused by malassezia furfur. The rash may be brown, dark or light white of different color, so the name. It is not itchy or painful. And may go away if immune system improves. However, consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment. Antifungal tablets and cream may benefit you.
Regards.
