What Medication Is Suggested For Imperical TB?
I am diagonosed with Imperical TB. Mantoux highly reactive (35mm) but chest X ray clear. I was on Akurt 3 for 1 month. However my SGOT & SGPT level has reached 154 & 194 respectively. Doctor said that I have to discontnue the medicine. What should be the next course of treatment ? is it normal to have this high level of SGOt & SGPT with this drug ?

Thanks for your question in HCM. In my opinion you should consult TB specialist. As MT is not the diagnostic test. And AKT should not be started only on the basis of MT. MT can be false positive in
1. Old TB
2. Childhood BCG vaccination
3. Sensitivity for environmental mycobacteria
So MT positive is not equivalent to TB. It is just a screening test. And in newer guidelines it has been replaced. So you need expert advice regarding your diagnosis weather you need AKT or not.
And yes AKT can cause drug induced hepatitis and rise in SGPT and SGOT. Better to re-evaluate your problem with TB specialist.
