What Medications Are Suggested For Cough?

my husband is sufferiing from portal hypertention for eight months. Doctor advised not to take any paracetmol or antiibitiics. but now he iis suffering from cough which makes him sleepless and uneasy. kiindly adviise any medicine to controle and get reliief from cough.

Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Portal hypertension is a specific disorder.
The cough has to be investigated by X-ray chest, blood tests and an examination by an ENT specialist as well as by a Physician to rule out Lungs problem.
This is needed for 2 reasons- this may not be a cough of routine origin and medicines have to be given carefully.
Till then you can give him steam inhalations and cough syrup like benedryl. See if the constipation occurs- give laxatives too.
