What Precautions Need To Be Taken For Low Amount Of Protein During Pregnancy?

When a woman is told she has a low amount of protein in her urine and she is at term is it necessary to induce labour right away, or can her water be broken to induce if necessary.? Already dilated 3 cm. Are drugs to induce necessary, and then what are the statistics for caesarean once induced?!

Hello,

Protein in urine during pregnancy is an ominous sign of preeclampsia, a condition that necessitates termination of pregnancy. Pre eclampsia will lead to increased blood pressure and seizures that are dangerous to both mother and baby. So it's better to induce labor at this stage either by drug infusion or by breaking the bag of waters.

Normal labor or C-section depends upon the following factors:
1) Dilation
2) Descent of the presenting part
3) Sometimes some conditions compel C-section like
Transverse lie
Twins or triplets
Cord around the neck with fetal distress
Central placenta previa
Eclampsia
4) Lie of the baby
5) presenting part
6) Placental abnormalities if any
7) fetal heart rate

A rough estimate tells about 15- 27% of women with induced labor end up with c- section.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
