What Precautions Needs To Be Taken After Getting A Tattoo?

Hi doctor, I was wondering about a tattoo I got about a week ago. I got it from a tattoo shop that seems clean as they use an autoclave and single use needles. Although I was really nervous that I didn t realize at the time that the tattoo artist did not open the supposedly sterile needle package in front of me. So should I get tested for HIV and Hep C and if so, when? The tattoo artist is licensed and such but I feel so nervous.

Most likely you have nothing to worry about but you should be screened for HIV and Hepatitis now and again in three months time since it can take that long for someone to seroconvert after exposure
