What Precautions Needs To Be Taken When Recovering From Typhoid Fever?
Hi a friend of mine traveling in Africa was diagnosed with typhoid fever. He did get his vaccines before he left. He is getting better. It sounds like it was not too a server case. What happens now? When he gets back home does he need to see his GP to have more test done? Does he have to refrain from being intimate with his partner? What else needs to be done? Many thanks S

Hi,
Typhoid fever causes ulcers in intestine which needs to heal, before one gets back to his normal life style. Because of vaccination the infection was mild still care is essential to avoid complications. Transferring of infection is via graces so hand washing and personal hygiene is essential.
From that point of you he has to take rest, avoid stress of any kind including act of sex, follow instructions about diet. Take the medication advised in recovery period (vitamins, digestive enzymes as per need). Barring this there are chances of release /injury to intestines so to be careful is a must.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
