What Precautions Should Be Taken After A Head Injury?

I fell on the ice and hit the back of my head and back. I went to a neighbor s for an hour and just rested on the couch-talking, etc. I know I will probably be more sore tomorrow but wondered what the precautions were for tonight. I don t have a headache but at times my head feels strange, heavier, sometimes it seems like I can feel sensation in the back of my eyes. Should I stay awake for a few hours at least? The back of my head is a little sore. it is 6:18pm here. I am 68 years old, female, obese with no medications.

Hi , I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Head injury in any age group is dangerous. Red flags are if you develop vomiting, white water like fluid coming out of nostrils or ears , have seizures , loss of consciousness than you should immediately contact emergency and get Ct scan brain done. Meanwhile you can take paracetamol for pain and try to avoid strenuous exercise or households.
I suggest if you remain stable than you can get appointment and have opd follow up with your physician.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate to ask. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
