What Precautions Should Be Taken For An Open Wound Oozing Colorless Liquid?

Hello, My 6 year old daughter banged her head on to a bus s door and is diagnosed to be having hairline fracture in the skull. Currently there is a small bump on the exact point of contact and a white colourless liquid oozing out which is told me to as secretion from calipery viens. Pls let me know what are the immediate precautions to be taken (apply antbiotic cream, ice packs, taking bath etc) and an indicative period for recovery. Regards, Vinay

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain in case if your daughter has got a traumatic injury to the head leading to a laceration and there is a discharge of clear fluid from it..
It is an indication that the healing is under progress and you need not to worry as it seems to be tissue fluid that cleans the injured tissues and helps in healing faster..
It is not a sign of infection and you need not to worry about it..
In case if the wound is still raw you can apply antiseptic cream like Neosporin over it as it will help in prevention of infection..
In case if you see yellow or pale drainage it is an indication of infection and that needs to be taken care of but as of now there seems no complication and would will heal in a week to ten days..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
