What Prognosis Can Be Made For Sore Throat, Fever And Body Pain?

Hello, I woke up to a sore throat this morning and went to look in a mirror. There is what looks like a blood filled bump and a black spot encircling it. Any idea what it is? I’m also not feeling great. I’m guessing some kind of infection because my temp is 101.6 and have body aches. I’m planning to go to the ER tomorrow but just checking if I need to go immediately. Thanks!

Hi,

It looks like throat infection and the bump can be due to infection causing a blood blister. It can also be a viral infection with a superseded bacterial infection.

So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated. You can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin along with anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.

Do warm salt water gargles. Avoid hot spicy and hard foods. Suck Cepacol lozenges.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
