General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Fever along with trembling (chills) are usually indicative of an infection. This can be viral or bacterial infections most commonly. Fungal and parasitic infections are not as common. If there are other symptoms that indicate that it is a mild or common infection that is the cold, then you can treat at home but if it is not clear or you are very concerned then he should be seen and assessed. Tylenol should help with the fever and chills.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
